NCUC Updates & Notices

History

In April of 2018, upon request of Lake Junaluska Assembly, the North Carolina Utilities Commission (NCUC) revoked the exemption from Commission regulation that had been in place since August of 2011 and directed LJA to file an application for a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity (CPCN). The application was filed to NCUC in September of 2018 and the Commission granted interim operating authority until the application could be reviewed and approved.

A public hearing at the Haywood County Courthouse was scheduled in December of 2019, and the final hearing before the Commission occured in Raleigh in January of 2020. The NCUC issued their final ruling on June 22, 2020, approving the bond, issuing the CPCN, and authorizing the Schedule of Rates.

The Order from the NCUC, as well as the CPCN and Schedule of Rates are available in the list of documents at the bottom of this page. Other forthcoming NCUC orders relevant to APW water and sewer utility services will be posted here as well.
